small observations on story, image, and tone

here you’ll find my notes on the books i read—what they look like, what they feel like, and what they quietly carry

i primarily read within children’s fiction—middle grade through young adult—and occasionally titles that sit just outside those edges

i’m especially drawn to stories that are thoughtful, restrained, and visually compelling, and i tend to pass on books centered heavily on romance

i pay close attention to:

• illustration and visual tone (color, texture, composition, overall feel)
• content that may not be obvious from the description (language, themes, intensity)

because of this, i’ll often note when something leans more intense or explicit than expected for its category

this isn’t about criticism—it’s about clarity

not every story is for every reader
